Who is Behind CTCAD?

Hello,

I’m Chris Thevenot. I hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Fluid Mechanics, from the University of Nancy, France (2009). To complete my studies, I conducted my master’s thesis at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, where I worked on a fluid-structure interaction problem using FEA simulation. It was an incredible experience that inspired my desire to live in New Zealand.

After working on various projects in France—including roles in construction, Airbus, and airbag systems—I relocated to New Zealand in 2015 to further develop my skills in product design.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from exceptionally talented mentors. This inspired me to start CTCAD, where I can both share my expertise and continue growing.

Like many Kiwis, I enjoy outdoor activities, but I am also deeply passionate about improving manufacturing efficiency and maintaining high integrity in my work. I believe CAD is an invaluable tool that brings immense benefits to product-based businesses.

If you’d like to learn more, feel free to reach out—I’d love to discuss how we can support your business!

Check Out Some of the Engineering Design Projects we Worked on

Many of our clients have asked us to sign a non-disclosure agreement. We our clients confidentiality very seriously and we will not display such project in our portfolio.

Flume Tank

Design of a flume tank for fishing research purposes. Manufactured in Nelson.

Tank Window CFD

Acrylic resistance study on tank window

Incinerator

Steel incinerator - Manufacturing drawings available

Industrial Umbrella

Design of a cantilevered umbrella with various sizes up to 6m wide. Workshop Drafting, proper BOM and complete CAD file made.

Spraying System Boom 1

Our biggest Mechanical engineering design project we worked on. This is a 2 stage boom used to spray chemicals onto a conveyor belt.

Spraying Booth

Design Engineering of a stainless booth, fitting for a 11Ft belt press, used for spraying chemicals. It uses mechanical side walls to control spraying width.

Spraying System Boom 2

Similar to previous boom, but this machine has a 3 stage telescopic boom. This represents a dual system with mechanical side wall control.

Mechanical Winch

Mechanical winch used for winding up and down industrial grade shade products.

Pump Station

CAD Design and manufacturing drawings for a pump station.

FEA Analysis

Study of a reverse engineering problem for the creation of new flow control devices.

Stainless Steel Tank

Tank design with multiple openings for sensors.

Spiral Staircase

A customized staircase

Decoiler

4-coil structure decoiler assembly
